The
crisis plaguing the Nigerian Football Federation was finally resolved
at a peace and reconciliation meeting convened by the Minister of
Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi in Abuja on Tuesday. Reports from the
meeting detailed that all the warring parties agreed with the resolution
which ultimately forced the Minister to cancel his planned trip to FIFA
headquarters in Zurich.
The NFF President Alhaji Aminu Maigari, who spoke with Newsmen on Tuesday said the several days of deliberations were fruitful and the decisions taken would give fresh life to the crisis-ridden Nigerian football.
He said, “It was a sincere and open agreement. Now, we can fully concentrate on our programmes and also on the development projects that we have.”
At the meeting, all the parties agreed to settle their differences, withdraw outstanding cases in court and terminate all legal processes.
The terms of the resolution include the NFF withdrawing the suspension and ban placed on Ray Nnaji (one of the litigants) and publicise such. The NFF is to pay reasonable compensation to him and clear his outstanding referee allowance, subject to verification.
