Nigeria today worse than before civil war says Akinyemi






FORMER Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi said, yesterday, that if Nigeria as a nation must get it right in all its ramifications, putting in place a Sovereign National Conference, SNC is a must.

 He also said that the Supreme Court at the moment requires more judicial activists that will be more proactive in their actions following the handling of revenue derivation by the apex court in 2002 which lumped the on-shore and off-shore oil resources together.

 Speaking yesterday in Abuja as a Guest Lecturer at the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur Support Group, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Professor Akinyemi noted that things have never been as bad as they are now in Nigeria.

 He said that the country was at a crossroad, adding, ‘’but if the truth be told, and we owe ourselves the truth, things have never been as bad as they are now. Some have said that these times remind them of the darkness before the civil war, but I believe that it is worse that those times.
